Eric Laliberte
- Seattle
Eric Laliberte of Seattle joined the People For Puget Sound board in 2010. He is a student at the University of Washington School of Law.
Eric learned about People For Puget Sound six years ago from a Seattle Times article.
“Since then, just about every article that I have read about the Sound has included a quote from someone from People For Puget Sound. I think that this shows how important a voice People For Puget Sound has in the region,” says Eric.
Eric sees increasing civic involvement as the most important action to take. “Every single issue—be it storm water pollution, habitat destruction, or eliminating dead zones—requires a concerted and consistent public effort.”
He sees his role on the board as reaching out to the next generation of conservationists. “I think that young people in this region recognize that restoring and protecting the Sound is not just good policy, it’s a moral imperative. I would like to connect this energy and idealism with opportunities for involvement.”
As for his favorite place in Puget Sound: “Alki Beach. On a summer day—or even a clear autumn day—it has an absolutely beautiful view.”
