Josh Freedman of Seattle joined the People For Puget Sound board in 2010. He learned about People For Puget Sound about seven years ago while volunteering with the Seattle Aquarium’s Beach Naturalist program.

Josh Freedman of Seattle joined the People For Puget Sound board in 2010. He learned about People For Puget Sound about seven years ago while volunteering with the Seattle Aquarium’s Beach Naturalist program.

As a board member, Josh would like to see increased awareness of People For Puget Sound and a broadening of funding sources.

“I’d like to help increase awareness of the various threats to the Sound’s health and highlight the benefits of maintaining and improving our environment. Broader awareness of the critical issues facing the Sound will make it more likely for people to take small, simple steps that cumulatively improve its health.”

Josh is a native of the Northwest, and he spends a lot of time enjoying Puget Sound in a variety of ways.

“I love introducing people to the biodiversity at South Alki. I’m also an avid sailor and kayaker, having explored the San Juans, Whidbey Island, Anderson Island, and many other places.”

Josh founded Web 1 Marketing, Inc. in 2002 to provide online strategy and promotional services to organizations of all sizes. He has also worked in a software startup and an engineering consulting company. He holds a bachelors degree in physics and a masters degree in civil engineering.
