Michael Schaefer

Mike is a consultant in strategic planning, fundraising and management. He joined the board in 2009 and is in his first term.

Mike has built a career supporting business, government and non-profit leaders in their delivery of projects designed to drive efficiency.    As the surviving partner of one Microsoft’s first employees, Mike has participated in the distribution of more than $180m to philanthropic causes across the nation (including approx $24m in gifts to the environmental movement).   Mike’s consulting firm “Credible Giving” is focused on helping donors and non-profit organizations build community wealth through high impact philanthropy.  An avid outdoors guy, Mike has a love for the Pacific NW coast and the stories of our peoples, places and heritage.
