People For Puget Sound invites you to join Dhira Brown, our Restoration Ecologist, in managing our Sound Stewards restoration program.  Every year the Sound Stewardship program brings hundreds of volunteers to the Duwamish River to plant native vegetation, remove invasives, re-create healthy wildlife habitat and generally make the Duwamish River a better place.

A SAMPLE OF THE TECHNICIAN’S TASKS:

VOLUNTEER MANAGEMENT
•    Publicize & market restoration workparties
•    Recruit & manage crews of volunteers

EVENT PLANNING & SUPPORT
•    Procure tools & snacks
•    Introduce restoration & safety
•    Maintain tools and equipment
•    Develop site information sources

POST EVENT WORK
•    Track volunteer information
•    Maintain contacts & thank you’s

SITE MONITORING
•    Assist with data collection
•    Assist with monitoring reports

Availability
We are seeking a volunteer to fill this position starting immediately and continuing at least through the end of the field season in December. Hours are flexible, but will be 15-20 hours a week. The selected person must be available on Saturdays and have access to a  cellphone and reliable vehicle to help transport tools, food and equipment for volunteer restoration workparties.
 
Location
This position will be based in the Seattle office, but will involve visiting restoration sites in the South Seattle area.

THIS IS AN UNPAID POSTION.  It is an excellent opportunity to coordinate many events, practice restoration project management, and sharpen your communication and community organizing skills. We will provide reimbursement for approved expenses relating to this position.
