Mar 13 volunteer work day on the shores of Maury Island

Come help restore native shoreline habitat to the Puget Sound ecosystem.

Join People For Puget Sound and Sound Stewards at Maury Island Marine Park. This former gravel mine has the potential to be pristine shoreline habitat with your help.  We’ll be working together to remove pesky invasive weeds like blackberry and scotch broom . Put on your (work) gloves and join the fight!

Maury Island Marine Park is located on the southeastern shore of Maury island between Point Robinson and Gold Beach.  The park’s 1.35 miles of shoreline is bounded by East passage and is part of the longest stretch of undeveloped shoreline in King County.  Come learn more about the park while getting your hands dirty helping to restore it!

Everyone can help! No experience necessary. Children 10 and under must have one-to-one adult supervision.

We’ll be there rain or shine so dress for the weather (rain gear in case of bad weather or sunglasses and a hat if it's sunny). Wear your sturdiest, most waterproof foot gear (sneakers, hiking boots, etc. No sandals).  Wearing long trousers and long sleeves is advisable since we will be in the weeds. Bring a water bottle, lunch and your own work gloves if you have them.

We provide work gloves, tools, snacks, and water (bring your own water bottle).

Please RSVP for directions and so we know how many tools and snacks to bring.

Children 10 and under must have one-to-one adult supervision. Minors attending without a parent or guardian must contact the event coordinator prior to the event to receive a special release form that must be completed to participate.

This event is cosponsored by People For Puget Sound, King County Parks and Recreation, and Friends of Maury Island Marine Park.
