SAVE OUR SOUND FUND DRIVE
GOAL ACCOMPLISHED!
Thanks to you we met the $150,000 fundraising goal as of June 30, 2009. By raising $152,500, we’ve met the challenge of a generous donor and raised another $50,000—giving us a total of $202,500 that will support our education, restoration and advocacy work.
It takes donations large and small to make a ‘people’s’ campaign like ours work. We appreciate the many donations and some of the heartfelt comments we’ve received during this campaign:
“People for Puget Sound is critical to the protection and recovery of the Puget Sound. Thanks for all that you do!” -- Kevin and Tina
“Steady progress is being made! Let's keep going!” -- Eugene
“I am with a small group of people that swims in the Sound on special occasions like Jan. 1. I can smell and taste differences in the water as I travel through. It can be disgusting. I am ashamed of what we make our wildlife live with.” -- Charley
“I live in Eastern Washington but have many fond memories of cruising on our old boat in Puget Sound and even swimming in Puget Sound. It is a tragedy that our Orca's have disappeared. We need to right the ship, so to speak.” -- Shirley
“You are doing excellent work and I'm happy to support your efforts. I wish it could be more.” -- Michelle
“The People for Puget Sound organization is awesome in the incredible amount of work accomplished and successes filled. KUDOS!!!” -- Mary
“Great organization! I love what you do!” -- Katya
Many fine folks have said some very fine things in support of us during our fund drive. Thanks to Senator Kevin Ranker, Ecology Director Jay Manning, Dr. Usha Varanasi of NOAA, Anne Murphy of the Port Townsend Marine Science Center, Jeff Benoit of Restore America’s Estuaries, and Martha Kongsgaard of the Kongsgaard-Goldman Foundation. You can read their comments here and see a list of our accomplishments for the people, for the Sound.
