Goals & Strategies
People For Puget Sound's community education team works to raise the profile of the organization and educate the community about the Puget Sound ecosystem and marine conservation to better prepare them to be good stewards, voters, members and volunteers of People For Puget Sound.
Our approach is to collaborate with our policy, restoration and development teams to build a constituency to support shoreline protection in communities, and support People For Puget Sound policy goals. In addition, we strive to raise awareness of threats to Puget Sound and solutions they can be a part of.
Community Education program goals:
- Facilitate and harness conservation-concerned citizens’ connection to Puget Sound to drive them to take action to protect the Sound.
- These citizens will act as environmental educators, activists, and stewards, becoming a constituency of people demanding restoration and protection of Puget Sound.
- Deepen our relationships with constituents through education on key policy issues, and the Puget Sound ecosystem in key areas in order to inspire their commitment to become lifelong stewards and activists in support of People For Puget Sound’s mission.
