Northwest Area Committee will be conducting a Town Hall meeting to help people become familiar regarding how oil spill incidents are managed in our state. The meeting is open to the public.
The Washington Department of Ecology (Ecology) and the U.S. Coast Guard are jointly hosting this Town Hall meeting. Ecology and the Coast Guard both are members of the Northwest Area Committee. Here’s more background about the Committee: http://www.rrt10nwac.com/.
The Town Hall meeting will be held Wednesday, Feb. 15, 2012, from 7 to 9 p.m., Seattle Central Library, Washington Mutual Meeting Room Level 4, Room 1, 1000 Fourth Ave., Seattle.
There will be experts on hand to talk about:
- Chemical dispersants
- Geographic-based spill response plans
- Oil spill response equipment
- Volunteer opportunities, including vessels of opportunity
- Computer modeling used to track spills
- Islands Oil Spill Association (IOSA)
