May 5: Environmental Education as a Priority (repeat)
Do public schools in Washington State have a plan for teaching about the environment - both locally and regionally? Learn about the Environmental Education Association of Washington, and efforts being taken in Olympia to teach about Puget Sound as we talk with Executive Director Abby Ruskey

May 12: Celebrate the Ocean and the Sound at Sea Cinema (12.1mb mp3)
In a few weeks the Olympia Film Society and People For Puget Sound will screen a unique compilation of environmental films at the Capitol Theater. Find out what’s planned for this year's Sea Cinema Festival as we talk with the festival's organizers and sponsors.

Contest entries must be in by the end of May for this first-ever art contest celebrating the protection and restoration of Puget Sound. Join us on a field excursion to the La Conner Sea Side Gallery to talk with gallery owner Mark Connelly about why the gallery is hosting this unique art contest and with Jana Turner, a volunteer intern with this project.

May 26:  Saving Puget Sound, the Smart Sponge Way (12.3mb mp3)
The Skagit Marine Resources Committee is installing a few “Smart Sponges” in Anacortes to collect and filter stormwater.  What makes these sponges such a smart choice to protect the health of Puget Sound?  We’ll find out from project coordinator Paul Dinnell and residents in Anacortes to find out what they think of this project.

This 10th annual event at Lime Kiln Point State Park on San Juan Island on June 20 offers up some of the best of humanity –songs, culture and activism, all directed at restoring Puget Sound for local orca populations.  Listen and learn why you should make attending this event part of your summer travel plans.

Almost 40 years ago, the Southern Resident orca whale known as Lolita (Tokitae) was taken from the  waters near Penn Cove. We’ll talk with Susan Berta and Howard Garrett of Orca Network about ongoing efforts to bring her home and the plight of orcas in captivity.

February 24: Eliminating toxics in baby bottles
In the last two years, the state legislature has passed two significant bills to eliminate PBDEs (fire retardants) and phthalates in toxic toys. Will the state eliminate other toxics such as BPA (bisphenol A) in baby bottles? Hear from Erika Schreder, Staff Scientist with Washington Toxics Coalition and Blair Anundson, WASHPIRG.
