Kathy Fletcher Sustaining Puget Sound Legacy Fund
2011 marks the 20th Anniversary of People For Puget Sound and the retirement of our founder, Kathy Fletcher.
Kathy’s wish is that People For Puget Sound’s generous supporters and long-time friends honor her years of dedication to saving the Sound by helping to ensure that People For Puget Sound continues to grow and thrive for many years to come.
To that end, People For Puget Sound has established the Kathy Fletcher Sustaining Puget Sound Legacy Fund.
Purpose of the Fund: To secure the long-term sustainability of People For Puget Sound and to enable the organization to seize extraordinary opportunities in the future for Puget Sound protection and restoration.
2011 Fundraising Goal: $2 million
How the Fund will work: The Fund is meant to be used and replenished, not to be held as an endowment. The Fund will be available to the Board of Directors to use as a reserve when extraordinary circumstances arise—for positive opportunities to accomplish something major for Puget Sound, or to address dire situations brought on by economic conditions or an environmental catastrophe such as a major oil spill. The Fund will grow through investment and future contributions over time, and will be replenished by fundraising when used.
