Public Invited to Celebrate the Earth at Swinomish

4/22/09 Earth Month at Swinomish Earth Enhancement Celebration
Mount Vernon, WA Apr 22, 2009

The Swinomish Tribe, People For Puget Sound and Skagit County invite friends and families to celebrate the earth this Saturday, April 25, from 9 AM to 4 PM at the Swinomish Tribal Reservation near La Conner.

The 7th annual Earth Enhancement Celebration starts with hundreds of volunteers cleaning up and removing invasive ivy and Scotch broom plants and features a salmon lunch provided by the Tribe for all who participate.

Also part of the celebration are environmental resource displays, native music with Eagle Heart, Gene Tagaban and Peter Ali, and local crafters from Swinomish.

In the spirit of Earth Month, participants are encouraged to carpool. If you reside in Skagit County, consider taking the bus to and from Swinomish Earth Day.  Skagit Transit will be providing free bus transportation from sites in Mount Vernon and Anacortes.

To ensure there is sufficient food, please register in advance by calling Britta Eschete at 360-336-1931.
