FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE
Film Festival 'Sea Cinema' Kicks off June 4
Free admission, family-friendly celebration of World Oceans Day and Puget Sound's Health
People For Puget Sound invites all to attend the 2nd annual Sea Cinema Film Festival at the Washington Center in Olympia. The festival will run from 6 PM to 12:30 AM on both Friday, June 4th and Saturday June, 5th.
This is a great opportunity for the whole family to celebrate World Oceans Day and our beautiful Puget Sound. Learn more about the world in which we live through several entertaining and informative films such as Between the Tides, the award winning documentary showing the perils of those subjected to the effects of global climate change and rising sea levels.
“People in this community care deeply about our oceans and the Puget Sound. This is a fun, free way to celebrate that commitment.” said Gabrielle Byrne, Community Education Coordinator for People For Puget Sound.
“I think there's something for everyone - there are films for kids, films about kids, films with serious focus on things like global water level rise and those that look at specific animals like polar bears or salmon.” Byrne said.
A family friendly street fair will also be held from 4 PM to 6 PM in conjunction with Sea Cinema on Saturday, June 5th.
Admission to Sea Cinema is free. The event is sponsored by People For Puget Sound, Thurston County Environmental Educators Technical Advisory Committee, City of Olympia, and the Puget Sound Partnership.
Screening schedule can be found on the People For Puget Sound website.
