Winners Named in 'Puget Sound-- I Love U' Art Contest

6/8/09 art contest winners and exhibit at Sea Side Gallery in La Conner

Mount Vernon artist Sukey Jacobsen on June 6 was awarded first prize for her watercolor depicting “Planting in the Riparian Zone”in the “Puget Sound I Love U” art contest and exhibit now at the Sea Side Gallery in La Conner.

 

The contest, sponsored by People For Puget Sound to recognize artwork depicting Puget Sound and stewardship to save the Sound, drew entries from 26 artists throughout the region.

Second place was awarded to La Conner artist Ken Hansen for his sculpture, “Returning Sockeye,” and third place was awarded to Peter Naylor of Sedro Woolley for his photograph, “Candystriped Shrimp on Crimson Anemone.”

An outstanding mention certificate was awarded to Coupeville artist Shirley Ashenbrenner for her mixed media piece, “Party Night.”

The pieces are on exhibit at Sea Side Gallery, 112 Morris St., Suite A, through June 15.  Please call (360) 466-5141 for gallery hours.  A portion of all sales will benefit People For Puget Sound in its campaign to save our Sound.
