Contact: Keeley O’Connell, People For Puget Sound, (360) 336-1931
Want to be a local habitat hero? Want to learn how you can make a difference in bringing Snohomish County restoration sites back to health?
People For Puget Sound’s Sound Stewardship Program is the perfect way individuals and groups can get involved in hands-on restoration no matter what their level of experience.
Free classes to become a Sound Steward begin March 27 in Everett and include classroom and field training about the history of restoration sites, introduction to ecology, native vs. invasive plant identification, weed control, and planting techniques.
After completing two class sessions and a field session at a site of their choice, Sound Stewards are asked to commit 40 volunteer hours over the next year at a People For Puget Sound Sound stewardship site of their choice in Snohomish County- Jetty Island, Union Slough, Kayak Point, or Picnic Point, and this year introducing a new site in Everett.
For more information and to register, contact Keeley O'Connell, koconnell@pugetsound.org, (360) 336-1931.
