Plastics in the Sound
“I want to say one word to you. Just one word... Are you listening?... Plastics.” That’s from the movie, “The Graduate.”
Liesl Clark writes:
I'm a filmmaker and mother of two inquisitive homeschoolers who have been working on collecting, inventorying, and turning into demonstration artwork the myriad plastics we find on our local Puget Sound beaches... I'm writing in the hopes that you might find of interest a little movie we made about our discoveries at the beach. It's a movie that speaks to adults and children and explores the question of what's washing up on our area beaches, where it's from, and why.
Check out Liesl's film "Plastic Is Forever" here.
Eric Becker filed a short video blog on his 'Sound and Vision' documentary dealing with those little bits of plastic found along the beach at Alki. Take a look here.
And, it's been awhile since Jessica Steinberg blogged on the subject of the Pacific Garbage Patch but going back to her account is a good reminder that out of sight isn't out of mind. Read Jessica here.
