Community Outreach Intern **CLOSED**
People For Puget Sound is recruiting a high-energy community outreach intern - one who is passionate about the health of Puget Sound - to support our Education & Outreach Manager. This is an exciting opportunity for a university student hoping to acquire hands-on, professional work experience while also making an impact. People For Puget Sound is a leader among the environmental community and our outreach strategy plays a critical role in achieving our mission.
The Community Outreach intern’s primary task is to support the community education team with developing and maintaining an active online presence. This includes, but is not limited to:
• Work together with Education & Outreach Manager to develop a targeted online presence which helps increase People For Puget Sound’s effectiveness in reaching its mission
• Create and update content for our website
• Keep online postings of upcoming events up-to-date
• Work together with other teams to ensure a consistent overall online presence of organization
• Write blog articles about current policy issues in collaboration with policy team members
• Assist in organizing community outreach events and other community education projects
Dates: February - June 2012
Hours: 8 hours per week
Location: Downtown Seattle
Qualifications:
• Excellent written and verbal communications skills
• Familiarity with web content management software (ideally plone), and other online tools (html is a huge plus)
• Experience with image editing software
• Proven ability to work independently
• Excellent attention to detail
• Passion for the environment
